There are several types of dentists<\/strong><\/a> for specific dental care<\/strong><\/a> needs. Here are some dental specialists and their roles in dental care:<\/p>

Endodontist<\/strong><\/p>

Endodontists are specialized dentists who perform root canal therapy. They are experts in the morphology, physiology, and pathology of the human dental pulp and periradicular tissues. They prevent and treat conditions of the pulp and associated periradicular diseases.<\/p>

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon<\/strong><\/p>

Oral and maxillofacial surgeons manage a variety of dental injuries. It includes the removal of impacted teeth and reconstructive facial surgery. They also treat both functional and aesthetic aspects of the tissues of the oral and maxillofacial region.<\/p>

Orthodontist<\/strong><\/p>

Orthodontists specialize in the correction of irregularities of the bite, jaws, and teeth. They also have specialized training in facial abnormalities and disorders of the jaw. A patient often consults an orthodontist after receiving a referral from their general dentist.<\/p>

Pediatric Dentist<\/strong><\/p>

Pediatric dentists deal with the oral health care of children, from infancy through the teenage years. In guiding kids through their dental growth, they often work with pediatricians.<\/p>

Periodontist<\/strong><\/p>

Periodontists manage dental implants, guided bone regeneration, and gum-related diseases. They prevent, diagnose, and treat disorders of the supporting and surrounding tissues of the teeth or their substitutes. They also maintain the aesthetics, function, and health of these structures and tissues.<\/p>

Prosthodontist<\/strong><\/p>

Prosthodontists restore and replace broken teeth with bridges, crowns, or dentures. They understand the dynamics of the smile, preserving a healthy mouth, and creating tooth replacements. They develop artificial substitutes for damaged oral and maxillofacial tissues.<\/p>

Prosthodontists are also experts in treating jaw joint problems, post oral cancer reconstruction, snoring and sleeping disorders, as well as traumatic injuries of the mouth.<\/p>
